How much advance notice do you need for an order?
I book fast, so I need 4-6 weeks notice for orders usually. You can always check for orders with quicker turnaround, and I will happily accommodate if I have room on my schedule.
What goes in to your design process?
I will gather inspiration for our order, and love to look at any images you have collected for your event. I will also look at Pinterest, Instagram, and the web for more ideas. I will gather my cutters, sometimes purchase new cutters, or sometimes hand cut dough. A few days before your order is due, I bake your cookies and make your icing, with varying amounts of custom colors. Then I use a microplane to smooth puffed edges if necessary. I apply the base layer of icing, then add in the multiple stages of design elements needed. I can make up to 100 cookies in one day, but sometimes one dozen can take me 6-8 hours. Then they must dry. I then photograph and package them individually, and clean up.
What types of decoration do you use?
Standard outline and flood, wet-on-wet, marbling, 3D florals with piping tips, textural elements such as whitewash background, parchment paper crackle and concrete, palette knife scrape, moss, paint brush stipple for felt or strokes for translucent ruffles, stencils, airbrush, metallic details, isomalt gems, rice paper for details, edible sprinkles and glitter. I also hand paint cookies using a variety of edible paints and pens.
